Why use a sun cream with a mineral filter? There are two types of filters: chemical and mineral. Conventional market sun creams use chemical filters, that is, to protect you from radiation they include a series of synthetic ingredients that penetrate your skin and absorb UV energy, converting it into heat. Did you know that the most common chemical filters present in conventional sunscreens are endocrine and oestrogenic disruptors? Oxybenzone, octinoxate and homosalate can do a lot of silent damage by interfering with the thyroid and other hormonal processes in our body.

 At Matarrania we have chosen the mineral filter for our sun creams because it is safer for your health and totally respectful of the environment. Let's see why:

• It is a physical filter, as if you were putting a thin bandage on the skin, and it acts like a mirror reflecting solar radiation in the opposite direction.
• It acts immediately as soon as you apply it, with no waiting. It protects you from the first moment.
• It is respectful of our seas, oceans and rivers, and of the living beings that inhabit them.

Non-nano sunscreen, what does it mean? Nanoparticles are tiny-sized particles used in sunscreens to improve the stability of some ingredients, increase the effectiveness of the filter or help make application smoother. Despite these “advantages”, there is a lot of controversy and there are still doubts to be resolved about their complete harmlessness. For this reason, at Matarrania we do not use nanoparticles and we proudly say that our sun creams are non-nano.

Does it leave the skin white? In our studies for the creation of Matarrania's new sunscreen we have repeatedly heard the opinion “I don’t like it leaving my skin white”. After many months of research into formulas, ingredients and suppliers, we have achieved a product that does not leave that effect that bothers so many people. Matarrania’s sun cream has a fluid texture, very easy to apply, that hydrates, protects, absorbs quickly and has a beautiful cosmetic finish, without leaving the skin white.

How long must I wait for it to protect me? It protects immediately on application, unlike sunscreens with chemical filters.

As it does not contain preservatives, how should I look after this product so that it does not spoil? The only precautions to take with our products are: avoid high temperatures (you do not need to keep the product in the fridge, but avoid, for example, creams being inside the car in summer), oxidation (close the jar after use) and humidity (contact with water).

What is the expiry date after opening? All Matarrania products have a period after opening of 8 months (indicated on the product boxes with the symbol of an open jar and the English acronym PAO: Period After Opening).

Is this cosmetic suitable for vegans? Yes, it is a vegan product, it has not been tested on animals and contains no ingredients from animals nor products generated by them.

Can some components of the products cause allergies? Yes, shea butter contains natural latex in its composition. The presence of this substance is minimal, but it can still affect people allergic to latex. These people should avoid products that include shea butter in their formulation, or perform a patch test before using them, applying a small amount to the forearm and observing the reaction.
