Why use a sunscreen with a mineral filter? There are two types of filters: chemical and mineral. Conventional sunscreens on the market use chemical filters, that is, to protect you from radiation they incorporate synthetic ingredients that penetrate the skin and absorb UV energy, turning it into heat. Did you know that the most common chemical filters in conventional sunscreens are endocrine and oestrogenic disruptors? Oxybenzone, octinoxate and homosalate can cause harm by interfering with the thyroid and other hormonal processes in our bodies.

At Matarrania we have chosen the mineral filter for our sunscreens because it is safer for your health and totally respectful of the environment. Why?

It is a physical filter, as if you were putting a thin bandage on the skin, acting like a mirror that reflects solar radiation in the opposite direction.

It works immediately after application, with no waiting time.

It is respectful of our seas, oceans and rivers, and of the living beings that inhabit them.

Non-nano sunscreen: what does it mean? Nanoparticles are tiny particles used in sunscreens to improve the stability of some ingredients, increase the effectiveness of the filter or help make application more fluid. Despite these “advantages”, there is much controversy and doubts remain about their total harmlessness. Therefore, at Matarrania we do not use nanoparticles and proudly say that our sunscreens are non-nano.

Does it leave a white cast? In our studies to create Matarrania’s new sunscreen, we repeatedly found the opinion “I don’t like it when it leaves the skin white”. After many months of research into formulas, ingredients and suppliers, we have achieved a product that does not leave that effect which bothers so many people. Matarrania’s sunscreen has a fluid texture, is very easy to apply, hydrates, protects, absorbs quickly and has an excellent cosmetic finish, all without leaving the skin white.

How long do I have to wait for it to protect me? It protects immediately after application, unlike sunscreens with a chemical filter.

Since it contains no preservatives, how should I take care of this product so it does not spoil? The only precautions to take with our products are: avoid high temperatures (there is no need to store the product in the fridge, but avoid, for example, creams being left inside the car in summer), oxidation (close the jar after use) and humidity (contact with water).

What is the expiry date after opening? All Matarrania products have a period after opening of 8 months (indicated on the product boxes with the symbol of an open jar and the acronym PAO: Period After Opening).

Is this cosmetic suitable for vegans? Yes, it is a vegan product; it has not been tested on animals and contains no ingredients from animals nor products generated by them.

Can some components of the products cause allergies? Yes. Shea butter contains natural latex in its composition. The presence of this substance is minimal, but it can still affect people allergic to latex. These people should avoid products that include shea butter in their formulation, or perform a patch test before using them, applying a small amount to the forearm and observing the reaction.
