In the same distillation process we obtain both the essential oil and the hydrosol of the same plant. The essential oil is the concentrated substance obtained from the liposoluble and volatile components, and the hydrosol is the substance extracted from the steam produced by this distillation. Hydrosol is not water, it is a much richer result in its composition, because it contains aromatic properties and botanical extracts obtained during the distillation process of damask rose.
