Plant-derived squalene to prevent premature ageing

How we extract squalene

Chemically speaking, it is a polyunsaturated hydrocarbon, that is, a molecule made up of carbon and hydrogen. Its structure is similar to that of vitamin E, but instead of two isoprenoid groups, it contains six (isoprenoids are the most powerful natural antioxidants).

Traditionally, squalene has been obtained from shark liver (hence its name, as squalus means shark in Latin). However, it is also found in small amounts in plants such as the olive tree.
