Mineral-filter, vegan and 100% natural sun protection made in Spain

Two years of intense work and testing were needed for MATARRANIA to find the perfect formula for its range of sustainable, people- and planet-friendly sun protection products. This complete range includes two formats: a cream SPF 50 and a fluid SPF 30, both 100% natural, vegan, water resistant, ocean and river friendly, with a fluid texture that leaves no white traces, and a non-nano mineral filter.

Why choose a mineral-filter sunscreen?

There are two types of sun filters: chemical and mineral. Chemical-filter sunscreens contain a series of synthetic ingredients that penetrate the skin and absorb UV energy, converting it into heat. Did you know that the most common chemicals used in conventional sunscreens are endocrine and oestrogenic disruptors? Oxybenzone, octinoxate and homosalate can interfere with the thyroid and other hormonal processes in our body.

At MATARRANIA, we have chosen non-nano zinc oxide as the mineral filter for our sunscreens because it is safer for your health and fully respectful of the environment. Here is why:

Non-nano zinc oxide: what does it mean?

Nanoparticles are particles smaller than 100 nanometres, used in some sunscreens to increase stability, improve filter efficiency and avoid the “white mask” effect.

Despite these “advantages”, there is much debate and uncertainty about their complete safety.
That is why at Matarrania we do not use nanoparticles and we are proud to say our sunscreens are non-nano.
